Celebrated on the first of November this day is a great chance for communal joy, with music, dancing, food and praying to honor ancestors. All Souls’ Day is prominently celebrated in Mexico, Guatemala, Bolivia, El Salvador and Peru. This day provides an opportunity to pass history and folklore knowledge to young generation, familiarize them with their own culture and religion.

In Mexico the celebration is a week-long. During the first day people honor spirits of deceased children. First day of the feast also coincides with Catholic Holiday known as “All saints day”  when people attend masses and honor Christian saints and martyrs.

The second day of the feast is the “official celebration of the dead”. It is believed that in this day spirits of dead relatives come back to the earth to celebrate and share the joy  with their families.
